More than 30 volunteers and over 100 younger ones are attending this year's Game Jam in Copenhagen. This year, Microsoft Denmark has been kind enough to sponsor the venue for a 24 hours coding session.

All the young ones are competing in creating the best games in four categories with the common theme of The Global Goals for Sustainable Development.

Coding (and maybe a few games) day and night, and presentations the following day. Below, is a picture from the introducing sessions, hosted by one of the co-founders of it all, Martin Exner.

I was recently asked about the emotional unavailability, the anxiety, the lack of depth in relationships, and the shallow communication that is all happening at this current moment in time. What are the implications on people and society, and ultimately, what is the cause of it? Also, with reference to hinting and ghosting through social media. Here are my reflections on this topic.

(That is very true.) Communication skills are generally on a decline. However, I don't think hinting and ghosting are particular new phenomenons. The internet, and especially social media, has just made it a lot easier. You hit the Like button, or maybe even the Love button, and your instinctive self already feels like you've expressed yourself. I've been guilty myself in doing this, and also looking too much into the likes I've received personally. But, I think this decline in honest, authentic, and deeper communication is partly a result of the more entertainment-oriented “social” feeds that we're resting our eyes on today. Here, I'm mostly thinking about the Facebook and Instagram feeds. Both owned by Facebook. Facebook's main cash flow comes from advertising, meaning the more time they can get you to spend looking at the Facebook app, the better. Since Facebook is investor-backed, they need to satisfy their investors in terms of financial growth and money back to the investors.

This shallow interaction with “social” media on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube leaves people with anxieties, a decreasing attention span, and decreasing communication skills. Which currently, or later on in life, most likely will manifest problems in relationships and probably difficulties concentrating and issues with anxiety or stress.

I experienced the root of the problem exactly when I wanted to respond to this question in an Instagram story. That Q&A box is very limited in the amount of characters you can type. Here, we have the root of the problem, the major social media platforms right now are not designed for deeper conversation. They're designed for a quick fix, over and over. It's a drug. It makes you addicted and keeps you looking at ads. Rather than, getting you into a personal one-to-one conversation or, even better, meeting in-person without screens in front of you.

Another aspect is the algorithm that Facebook and Instagram (among others) have implemented. It serves you what “you like”, but that doesn't mean that that is actually what you need. Like most have experienced to miss an important post from an old friend. This is because Facebook's algorithm prioritizes the friends or content you've spent most time with recently over your old ones. It may also be a particular Facebook group, but often it's a random video that may be fun and entertaining, but which isn't much more than just entertainment. Leaving you mostly engaged with your recent friends, or time-consuming content, rather than continuing to build your deeper relationships.

Now, how do we move forward from this. There are many views and opinions on how to do this best. However, the key component is most likely to design business models, apps, and experiences which take the objective of connecting people at the heart of its mission. Experiences that are designed around deeper conversations. Experiences that do not rely on numbers (i.e. followers and likes) to excite users. And, experiences that do actually bring people together.

The main KPIs (i.e. Key Performance Indicators) should not be the number of users or the amount of time spend on the app, but rather the connections made and the conversations those have aspired. Ultimately, platforms that at its core, continuously, put emphasis on the word 'social' in 'social media'.

INFP with FiNe functions

Fi in INFP is all about personal values and being authentic. An INFP will feel horrible if they don't follow and show their values to the world. They base their decisions on internal feelings and their personal value system. Authenticity is also probably the most important criteria they're looking for in a relationship and friendships. When relating to others, they will do so based on what they would feel themselves in the certain situation.

Ne in INFP is expressed in the INFP exploring and generating ideas while doing creative things. For them, ideas are generated while writing or talking, or painting a picture. Second thing they're looking for in relationships, somebody who can be open and who wants to discuss topics that are important to them. This is how their ideas are generated.

Si in the INFP is the way that they store and reference previously gathered information. INFPs prefer to learn and grow through personal experiences. They want to try it, learn, and connect it with their value system when implemented in the future. They will often have a “right” or “wrong” approach to certain things depending on personal experience.

Te in the INFP is looking for a better solution to a problem. It's a logic function that is looking to improve and critique things. The INFP will sometimes critique their own work to an extent where it tires them out, and maybe an art piece never gets released. Here, they have to learn that nothing is perfect, yet everything is perfect.

INFJ with NiFe functions

Ni in the INFJ is generating ideas through information previously gathered from the world. They make connections and link certain things internally in order to generate ideas. No external force is really needed when the information is already gathered.

Fe in the INFJ is collecting feelings from the outside and other people around them. They're constantly looking for the “vibe” of the room and feel what others are feeling at all times. They will often make sure that everybody is feeling comfortable.

Ti in the INFJ often goes together with the Ni to develop ideas and use critical thinking to improve and realize those ideas. Some INFJs also experience the Ni-Ti loop where the two functions are battling and the INFJ can end up in an internal war of thoughts if some of their external functions are not engaged.

Se is how the INFJ is gathering information from the world. They use their senses to learn from outside, but at the same time it is their least developed function. It's the function that is engaged when cooking or enjoying beauty. Often an INFJ can forget everything around them as the internal functions are engaged.

I believe in one universe, but I believe that the universe has countless layers. In fact, I believe that every single one of us is a planet with billions of citizens inside of us, the cells.

We live on this planet, in this universe. Constituting of countless of stars, planets, and galaxies with suns and moons. We are a part of this planet, Earth, and our parents are the Sun and the Moon as we're attracted and circling around each other.

That's the reason I think everyone should take way better care of the environment, as we are a part of it and we can't live without it.

The same goes with our bodies; we need to take better care of all the cells inside of us. If we're not healthy, they will eventually die. If too many cells die, the body dies altogether.

That doesn't mean that we don't exist anymore, just like any other planet or star that changes its form won't cease to exist. We're just a part of something new, but still in this very universe.

Ultimately, I believe that we're all parts of the universal consiousness. The universe is consious about itself, and that is exactly what we're experiencing.

We will always be conscious beings in different forms. United in Oneness.

It's Election Day in Denmark. A week has passed since the EU elections. The weather is great here. Currently sitting on a bench under the trees with birds singing in the background.

My X has been set and all there's left to do now is see the result later in the evening.

Yesterday, was the last day of lectures for my bachelor's degree in marketing. A lot has changed since I started. My views and perspective on life has taken a few turns. Partly due to new experiences I've had, new people I've met on my journey, and discussions that I've had with other peers.

Changes are always emotional. You say goodbye to things that you've tried your best to incorporate in your life. People you've crossed paths with, friends you've made and connected with, but sometimes those journeys don't last forever. Sometimes you got to leave things behind to make room for new experiences into your life.

Studying with international peers, I've learned to understand this concept very well. You meet, you become close with some, and at some point paths lead in different directions ones again. It's nothing to be sad about – that is just life.

There are certainly people that I hope and wish to stay connected with, even if we're moving to different parts of the world. Ultimately, we're still connected in our journeys and the experiences we've had together so far.

Election periods are always times that makes you reflect. What do I, as an individual, wish for us, as a society, to happen in the future. Who am I and how do I fit into that equation.

I'm making the changes I need to make to ultimately lead a better life for me and people around me. For instance, I've started blogging again. Something that I used to love when I was younger and had more time to do exactly what I wanted to do.

Even with more responsibilities coming as you grow older, I do still wish to have that same feeling. The feeling of being able to do exactly what you feel is right and take the time to do exactly that.

Starting blogging again is one step in that direction.
